Anticipating the Future, O God!…

As we gather in this morning, O Lord, we come with anticipation in our hearts and joy on our lips. We come to acknowledge that You are the only reason for our joy and praise. We know that without You, we have no future that is worth speaking about to anyone. We know that with You we have a future worth sharing with everyone. We hear You from Your word; speak as You spoke to Your prophet, Jeremiah: “I know the plans I have for You,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for evil, to give You a future and a hope.” Thank You, Lord, for including us, Your children, gathered here in this place in that future and hope.

We raise our voices in praise to You, O God. We lift our songs and prayers to You to say that we love You, O God. We enter into worship, with all that word means to us and to You. We come together to fellowship with You and each other, O Lord. We seek Your presence in a public, corporate way as we gather this morning.

We also come with confession on our lips, dear Father. We realize that we have sinned and have fallen short of that hope You have for each of us. We sense that You have more for us to be and become, individually and as a congregation. We ask for forgiveness and cleansing as we continue to seek to be and become what You have planned for us, dear Father.

We do come in anticipation of seeing, hearing and entering into community with You as You lead us on the path that You are walking, dear Jesus. May what is done in this place, at this time, be pleasing to You, O Lord, that we would see You with clearer eyes and follow You with joyful anticipation of where You are leading.

In the hopeful name of Jesus Christ, I pray.  Amen

The Path Continues…
