Memories of People…part 13

A Prayer in Remembrance of:

Hugh Clarke

Having come into this place, we find ourselves once again in the valley of the shadow of death, dear God.

Understanding the frailty of our human condition, we seek the touch of the Creator, O God, to reassure us, your creation.

Give us, again, a renewed mind and soul to remember that you have a home prepared for those who love you.

Help us to say with the Psalmist, “that weeping may last for the evening, but joy will come in the morning,” as we wait for you, dear God.

Cleanse us from unrighteousness as you have done for this your servant and receive us as you have received him.

Lift up the head of those who grieve today as you comfort and assure them of your presence, we pray.

Allow your grace to wash over us anew to more than supply our needs, to allow your mercy to be known in new ways today and in the future.

Renew our spirits, O Lord, and lead us on to the future you have for us – a future with hope and plans for good and not evil.

Keep this family in the palm of your hand and carry them when they faint and renew their strength in you.

Enliven their memories of all that is good and true and just that you have given them through Hugh and cause them to feel your presence as they remember him.

Thank you Father, for allowing us to have been influenced by this your child, Hugh Clarke. In the powerful, comforting and precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray.  Amen.
