(an acrostic prayer for a friend)
Just, merciful and gracious heavenly Father; God of all and comforter of all that are in need, we come to You today to seek Your face in this time of grief.
Attune Your ear to us as we cry out to You as we walk this valley of the shadow of death today.
Minister to these family members and friends through the power and tenderness of Your Holy Spirit as they are gathered to remember Your child James Hall.
Enter into our very beings today to shield us from sorrow and grief as we face the days ahead without his physical presence here with us.
Secure us in the knowledge that James is with you, even now, Father.
Help us to see You through the memories of James as we recall his life today and in the days that lie ahead. We thank You for Your kindness and care for him in these days.
Allow us to know You better for having known this good man as we have walked with him on this earth. We ask that You continue to walk with us as you walked with James.
Lift us up today, Father. We claim the promise in Your Word that You are the one who lifts us our heads when we are sorrowful. We lean toward You in our grief, Father.
Lean toward us, O Lord, in the days ahead as we seek to love You more. Help us to be more like You for having known James Hall.
Thank You, Father. In the comforting name of Your Son, Jesus, we pray! Amen!
