(a prayer…from the idea of us calling “I’ve got shotgun” to Jesus–Mark 10:35-45)
Surely You have called us, O God and Father to worship You in spirit and in truth.
Hear us as we pray, O Father. We have petitions for ourselves, and intercessions and praises to offer to you today! Accept our sacrifice of praise to You as we come.
Open our ears and close our mouths, Father, so that we may hear You speak through Your word and through the Holy Spirit’s presence with us.
Teach us to do what You call us to do—to serve You and to serve others– as You call us to servant-hood instead of our prideful serving of ourselves.
Guide us to see others as You see us and to love them as You love us and to share all You have given to us that others may come to know You as we do.
Undo our pride and allow us to see You as You are in this world and where You are calling us to come alongside of You to serve.
Negate our lust for power and priority in this life with Your sense of true discipleship that looks to the needs of others to grow us into who You want us to become!
In the giving name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen
