(an acrostic prayer in remembrance of my friend)
Blessed Lord and Father of all mankind, I come in solemn prayer to say “Thank You” for having known and loved this friend of mine and Yours, Bill Williams.
I shall miss my friend here on this earth, but I know that he is with You and has reunited with the many loved ones who have gone on before Him. But I shall still miss his presence here, O Lord.
Lend Your comfort and peace to Bill’s family and hold them in the palm of Your hand to provide Your love and mercy in these days and the days ahead for them. Bless them with Your presence, dear Father.
Let us know Your presence, dear Father. May we hear Your Word and know Your Spirit within and among us.
“Weeping will last for the evening, but joy comes in the morning,” as Your word tells us, O Lord. May we know Your joy even in the midst of this weeping as we are assured of Your love, grace, and mercy today.
Instill in us something of the same spirit that you put into Your Child, Bill. May we vision with Your eyes and react with Your grace as we see what needs to be done and find Your will for doing it.
Lead us to Your by Holy Spirit, Father, as we seek to be more like You and to serve the world where You have placed us as we want to emulate Your servant Bill as he showed You to his world.
Level us, Father, when we find ourselves in valleys of grief and help us to once again mount the mountains that lay ahead of us.
Inspire us by the memories of our friend, Bill William, to be more like You, dear Lord, and to be more attentive to Your will for us and Your will for our walk on the path of life that You call us.
Accept our humble plea for forgiveness of our sins, even at this time of remembrance of our friend, Lord. We are reminded of the examples of forgiveness that have gone before us, so we plead today.
Move among us, Father, we long to be with You and to know Your presence in the valley of death that we find ourselves. Make Your presence felt by the moving of Your Spirit today, Lord.
Send us into this world to share the love that Bill Williams shared with us, dear Father. We thank You for sharing him with us. I will miss Him!
In the name of Bill Williams’ Lord and Savior, even Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!
