Coming to You, dear Father, we seek Your presence and ask for Your comfort to abide with us today.

Lead us along green paths to still waters flowing in this valley of the shadow of death today, O God!

Yearning for your mercy and grace, we come to this place today to hear from You and feel Your peace.

Descend upon us today through Your Word, Your Presence, Your Spirit and Your people as we worship today.

Enliven our spirits through the power of Your Holy Spirit, Father. We long to be more like You for having been here with these Your children.

Dearest Father, we bring this family to You in this time of grief as they experience the loss of husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Attune their hearts to You as You visit us and them with Your love and grace.

Validate their love for You and their love for David as the days ahead come and go in the returning routine of days.

Infect them with the joy of memory of the days lived and cherished as family here on this earth.

Defend Your children here as the days pass and the memories linger of pain and suffering. Remind them of Your love and mercy when sometime seems like a long time.

Join us here, Father, as we celebrate the life and memory of this dear friend.

Open the floodgates of Your house and sprinkle Your loving grace upon all who call upon You today.

Instill in us, this day, the joy of Your salvation as we worship You and remember our friend.

Negate the sadness with Your gladness and replace the grief with Your comfort.

Engrave on their hearts and ours the very name of our Savior and Lord as You have sealed us with Your love.

Rejoicing in You, Father, we thank You for meeting us here and for bringing us Your joy and peace today.

In the name of Jesus Christ we pray and believe! Amen

Precious Lord and Savior, God of creation, Holy Spirit among us, we come to worship in praise to You today.

Remember us, Your children, as we humble ourselves, such as we can, in Your presence, in this place, O God.

Empty us of our sinful pride and fill us with Your mercy and grace that we may be useful in Your kingdom, O God.

Free our minds just now that we might hear and understand Your Word for us in this place today.

Enliven our spirits with the presence of Your Holy Spirit this day that we might be known as Yours, Father.

Remove the guilt and stain of our sins today, O God, that we may truly worship You in spirit and truth.

Open the windows of heaven and hear Your children as we offer praises and adoration to You, dear God.

Notion us with the thoughts of grace, mercy, joy and love as we read Your word to prefer one another over ourselves, dear Lord.

Eternally we want to be like You, Father. Help us to realize that You are God and we are not.

Accept our repentance today from those sins that easily beset us, Father. For We cannot make it on our own.

Nudge us from our thrones to help us see others and their interests over and above our own desires.

Over and above our wants, and desires may we allow Your Spirit to lead, guide, comfort and keep us in Your will, dear God.

Take away our selfish attitudes and help us to have the mind of Jesus Christ, Your Son and our Savior.

Heal our brokenness, Father. We are undone and have no other hope except You.

Encircle us with Your merciful hands and protect us from the evil one today, dear Father.

Receive this our prayer today, O God. Hear Your children. Remake us in body, mind and spirit in Your likeness as we worship You today! We thank You, Father.

In the name of the one who preferred us above his own life, even Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen!

(an acrostic prayer)

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, we come to worship You today with all that we are. Accept us, O God.

Open our minds to comprehend a little more of You and Your will for us, Your children, dear Lord.

Design the instruction of Your commands today to penetrate the prideful hardness of our hearts, Father.

Tend us as Your flock, O Holy Spirit. Use your shepherd’s crook to keep us on the path that leads to still waters and green pastures.

Hear our prayer, O Spirit, to help us to see and remember the words of our savior and allow them to rule in our lives.

Enthuse us with Your truth, Your guidance, and with Your comfort, O Spirit, as You come alongside us.

Save us from our selfish selves, O God! May Your Spirit overcome the sin in our lives and remake us in Your sight.

Preserve us, O Spirit, for the coming day of salvation as we look forward to the homecoming around Your eternal throne.

Interpret Your will for each of us today, so that we may know the what, the where, and the how to love you and to show that love to each we meet.

Remember us to the Father and to the Son, O Spirit. Intercede for us that we may be able to stand in Your presence.

Instill in us the willingness to hear You speaking to us as You are with us and in us each day, O God.

Take us, O Lord, and prepare us to be Your spirit in this world as we live and breathe and have our being.

We pray in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.  Amen!

God the Son…

(an acrostic prayer)

God, our Father, in the name of God the Son, we come to bow in worship today.

Offering ourselves to You in the belief that You love each of us and You bid us come to Your salvation.

Descend on us, O God, through Your Spirit, in this time, to make us who we long to be in You.

Take away our sins as we repent, O God. Cleanse us to be useful to You in Your kingdom’s work here in this place.

Help us to renew our commitment to You, Your Son, and Your Spirit as we seek to live our lives for You today, O God.

Enliven us through the filling of Your Spirit in the hearing and doing of Your word.

Salve our wounded souls, dear God. This world has not been kind to Your children. Make us whole again in You.

Overshadow our moments of unbelief with the assurance of salvation to all who would believe in You, O God.

Nudge us Lord, in the direction of Your will for each of us as we look to Your Son, our savior, for Your peace.

In the name of God, the Son, we pray. Amen!

(an acrostic prayer)

God our Father, we come in humble adoration to worship You in this place given to You as a symbol of our love for You!

Order our lives in the correct pattern that You have chosen for each of us, Father. Strip away the excesses of our lives and make us again in Your image.

Distinguish us from the ways of this world as we strive to live for You in ways that are true and plain, dear God.

Turn us from the sirens of this world’s pleasures to the truth that You and Your word whispers in Your still small voice, dear Lord.

Hear our prayer today, Father, and visit us with Your Holy Spirit as you forgive and rain Your mercy on us.

Establish the work of our hands, O God. May we be Your hands, Your feet and Your voice in Your kingdom’s work today.

Fade the stain that this world’s temptations have left on us so that the world may see us as different in Your love, O God.

Affix Your countenance on us, Father. Help us to walk in the light of Your face as we live our lives today.

Temper Your judgement of us through the shed blood of Your Son, Jesus, Christ, so that we may stand in Your presence, Father.

Heal our brokenness with the touch of Your Spirit’s presence, Father. We are without hope with Your presence, O Lord.

Enter now into our worship to hear, to see, to enjoy Your children today, Father. May our worship be pleasing in Your sight.

Remove whatever is hindering our worship, Father; be it pride, be it laziness, be it inattention. We long to know You in worship today.

We pray in the name of the one who shows us the Father, even Jesus, the Christ. Amen!
