Writing and Faith…

French novelist Gustave Flaubert said, “The art of writing is discovering what you believe.” Writing then, can be an exploration of one’s faith. From: NextSundayResources.

I write to explore and to express what God is saying…what do you think?

God the Son…

(an acrostic prayer)

God, our Father, in the name of God the Son, we come to bow in worship today.

Offering ourselves to You in the belief that You love each of us and You bid us come to Your salvation.

Descend on us, O God, through Your Spirit, in this time, to make us who we long to be in You.

Take away our sins as we repent, O God. Cleanse us to be useful to You in Your kingdom’s work here in this place.

Help us to renew our commitment to You, Your Son, and Your Spirit as we seek to live our lives for You today, O God.

Enliven us through the filling of Your Spirit in the hearing and doing of Your word.

Salve our wounded souls, dear God. This world has not been kind to Your children. Make us whole again in You.

Overshadow our moments of unbelief with the assurance of salvation to all who would believe in You, O God.

Nudge us Lord, in the direction of Your will for each of us as we look to Your Son, our savior, for Your peace.

In the name of God, the Son, we pray. Amen!

(an acrostic prayer)

Lord, God Almighty, Creator of life and Father of us all, we bow down to worship You in Your presence and in the power of Your Spirit.

Instill in us the sense of freedom in Your grace through our faith in Jesus, Your Son and our Savior!

Before faith, we were captives of this world, Father, and we still ache under the strivings in our flesh. We seek your peace and forgiveness.

Engage us with Your word today, O God. May we see You in the words we hear, the thoughts we think and the actions we undertake. Lord, make us the instruments of your peace and love today.

Reveal Yourself to us today in the Spirit of holiness so we may know your freedom from the temptation to sin. Help us to know Your truth by Your Spirit’s presence.

Teach us how to share Your truth in the midst of the world where we live, Father. May others see Jesus in us and come to know Your truth in their lives.

Yours is the kingdom, and the power, today and forevermore.

In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, we pray. Amen and Amen!

(an acrostic prayer)

My Father, who art in heaven, yet living in me through Your Spirit, I come to worship You in spirit and in truth.

You have called me to Yourself, through faith in Your Son, Jesus Christ. I come seeking to grow because of Your faith living in me, O God!

Forgive my unbelief and unfaithfulness in times past and set me on Your path of righteousness and grace, dear Father.

Allow me to enter into Your presence, even now, dear God, as I seek to be more like You today and less like past expressions of me.

Instill in me again, the trust that You gave as You called me to Yourself. I need Your faith exposed in Your Son, O Father.

Take me from where You find me to the place You want me to be, O God. May my faith be enough to follow where You lead, Father.

Have thine own way, Lord, in me today. May faith, now planted, bring forth fruit in Your season, O God!

I pray in the name of the only faithful one in whom I can trust, Jesus Christ, Your Son and my Savior. Amen!

(an acrostic prayer)

Blessed Savior, Son of God, savior of us all, we come to pray in Your name, to worship You, to bless Your holy name.

Lead us from the sinful path that we have walked, into Your path of grace and mercy, Father.

Enthuse us by Your Spirit, that we might encourage those we meet, to trust in You, dear Father.

Saturate us with power of Your Spirit that we might allow You to bless others through us, O God!

Segregate us from Satan as we strive to show You to this sinful world, Father. May we allow You to be our defense and stay.

Temper us by the fire of Your word, O God! May we come through Your purifying love and mercy and be found useful to You!

Hallowed be Your name, O Lord. We want to be a blessing to You as You seek to save and restore those who do not know You through Your Son.

Exhibit through us Your love, Your mercy, Your forgiveness, and Your grace, O God.

Longing to see you face to face, Father, we seek to be with You and to be used in Your kingdom’s work, even here, even now!

Occupy our minds today, Father. May we be ever conscious of Your Spirit’s leading in our everyday lives.

Rain Your cleansing mercy and grace down on Your children today, O God. May we reflect You to our world today.

Defer Your judgment on those who do not accept You today and give us the courage to go to them that You might save, even as You use us to share Your love to them!

In the name that is blessed above all other names, even Jesus Christ, Your Son, we pray.  Amen

Sea of Galilee(an acrostic worship prayer)

Father, we come in faith this day believing that You are who Your word says that You are. We have a surety that You love us enough to call us to that faith in You through Your Son and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Accepting Your assurance that You want what is best for us, Father, we renew our faith daily as we see You working in the lives of those we meet and working in our own lives.  Thank You, Father, for loving us that much and more.

Initiate in us a new awareness of Your will today, Father. Help us to grow daily in faith in You.  May we have eyes to see You as You work Your will among us and in the world where we live, O God.

Tether us tightly to You, Father, as we are thrown about by the winds of temptation that blow on us each day. Help us to remember that You are our strong defender against Satan’s fiery darts of sin.

Hover over us, Lord, as we try to walk the way of Your will for each of us.  May we, Your children, know Your courage to be able to present You to this world. May our faith in You, Father, continue to grow to be our guide and stay in this world in which we live today.

Thank You, Father, for faith.  We love you, Lord. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Palm Sunday…

Palms waving in the air and spread across the road as a man on a donkey rides by,

Assuming the position of spectators, we look on as he passes by as others shout “Hosanna, Hosanna, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”

Looking to him to save us, we sing praises and give him gifts of palms and coats strewn along the way.

Moved to bowing, we sense something special and different about this man on the back of a donkey.

Sent to us on the back of a donkey, this man arrives in the places where we live our lives.

Undeterred by the lack of real understanding on our part this man rides into our lives seeking to know us and to be known.

Near to us as he rides in, we sense that there is more to this man on the back of a donkey than first thought, as he enters our lives.

Doing for us what we could not do for ourselves, he rides toward rejection, humiliation, pain and a cross, on the back of a donkey.

A look of sadness is on his face, this man on the back of a donkey, as he pauses outside and cries over our unbelief.

Yearning to his father, he cries over the lack of understanding that we exhibit, even as he longs to gather us to Himself. This man on the back of a donkey loves us more than we can fully know. He rides in to us, individually. What will we do with this man on the back of a donkey?
