Grace for the Moment….

(an acrostic prayer)

God of grace and God of glory, we thank You for the grace and mercy to live in this very moment.

Receive our gratitude for this life that You have given us to live. May we live in this moment, allowing the past to be past and the future to be the future, dear Father!

Attune our hearts to Your heart, O Father, that in this moment we may be more like You and less like this world in which we live.

Conceive in us what it means to allow You to live through us in this moment to those You bring into our life’s path.

Enliven our Spirits though the power of Your Spirit, Father, that we may, at this very moment, know Your will and see where it is You want us to be.

Forgive our foolish way O God, for we know that we have sinned and fallen short of Your glory, in this very moment!

Open our eyes that we may see what You see in the faces of those we meet in this very moment that we may show them Your love, grace and mercy.

Remove the hardness of our hearts and replace it with the tenderness of Your heart in this moment as we seek to be You to this world, dear Father.

Take us from where we are to where You want us to be in this moment. May our lives resound with Your grace given to others as it was received from You, O God!

Help us, dear Father, to see and to know where You would have us to be You in this moment, in this hour, in this day, in this life.

Enter in to our moments to hear our conversations, our interactions with others and help us to be You to each we meet.

Move in and among us, Father, through the moving of Your Spirit to make this moment a moment that will influence those we meet to come and meet You in their moments.

Open the floodgates of heaven and pour on us Your grace for the living of these moments that we may know You more, dear Father!

More of You, O God, we want to see more of You in this moment as You show us Your will for today!

Enter into our time and moments, dear Lord, that we may come to understand the importance of each and every minute in Your will.

Nudge us, Father, from the throne of our lives in this moment, that You may, again, reign in our lives and through us to this world.

Take us, Lord, and renew a right heart within us, use us in this moment to be You as You live within us!

In the name of the ruler of our moments, Jesus Christ, we pray! Amen!

Dixie Smith….

(an acrostic prayer in memory of a friend)

Dear Lord and Father, we beseech You and all Your comfort to surround our friends as they walk through this valley in the shadow of the death of Dixie Smith.

Instill in them the stillness of Your presence as they seek Your face, O God, and as we come alongside them today as part of Your family and theirs.

X-out the anxiety and fear that we feel in this valley of death and flood us with the warmth of Your grace, dear Father.

Inspire us to new heights of faith in You, as you lead us into paths of righteousness for Your name’s sake, dear Lord.

Empty us of our doubt and despair and fill us anew with Your Spirit’s presence, that we may walk in Your will today, even as we grieve this loss of Dixie Smith, Father.

Surround her loved ones and friends with Your mighty arms today, dear Father. Keep them from the world’s harsh tones as they seek Your face in this time!

Move in and among us, dear God, and lead us along the path that You have for each of us for we know that You are the way, the truth and the light!

I thank You, Father, for the influence of my friend, Dixie Smith, on the lives of those she came into contact. May we all be more like You for having lived this life with her.

Tether this family to Yourself, Father, especially in these coming days, that they might know of Your tender mercies that are new each morning. Help them to live in that hope as they tread this sod each and every day.

Hear our prayer, O Lord! We offer it in the calm assurance that You hear and answer in Your will and way. May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with us all.

We pray in the name of Dixie Smith’s Savior, Jesus Christ! Amen and Amen

Clyde David Joiner…

(an acrostic prayer in memory of my friend)

Coming to You, dear Father, we seek Your presence and ask for Your comfort to abide with us today.

Lead us along green paths to still waters flowing in this valley of the shadow of death today, O God!

Yearning for your mercy and grace, we come to this place today to hear from You and feel Your peace.

Descend upon us today through Your Word, Your Presence, Your Spirit and Your people as we worship today.

Enliven our spirits through the power of Your Holy Spirit, Father. We long to be more like You for having been here with these Your children.

Dearest Father, we bring this family to You in this time of grief as they experience the loss of husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Attune their hearts to You as You visit us and them with Your love and grace.

Validate their love for You and their love for David as the days ahead come and go in the returning routine of days.

Infect them with the joy of memory of the days lived and cherished as family here on this earth.

Defend Your children here as the days pass and the memories linger of pain and suffering. Remind them of Your love and mercy when sometime seems like a long time.

Join us here, Father, as we celebrate the life and memory of this dear friend.

Open the floodgates of Your house and sprinkle Your loving grace upon all who call upon You today.

Instill in us, this day, the joy of Your salvation as we worship You and remember our friend.

Negate the sadness with Your gladness and replace the grief with Your comfort.

Engrave on their hearts and ours the very name of our Savior and Lord as You have sealed us with Your love.

Rejoicing in You, Father, we thank You for meeting us here and for bringing us Your joy and peace today.

In the name of Jesus Christ we pray and believe! Amen

(an acrostic prayer)

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, we come to worship You today with all that we are. Accept us, O God.

Open our minds to comprehend a little more of You and Your will for us, Your children, dear Lord.

Design the instruction of Your commands today to penetrate the prideful hardness of our hearts, Father.

Tend us as Your flock, O Holy Spirit. Use your shepherd’s crook to keep us on the path that leads to still waters and green pastures.

Hear our prayer, O Spirit, to help us to see and remember the words of our savior and allow them to rule in our lives.

Enthuse us with Your truth, Your guidance, and with Your comfort, O Spirit, as You come alongside us.

Save us from our selfish selves, O God! May Your Spirit overcome the sin in our lives and remake us in Your sight.

Preserve us, O Spirit, for the coming day of salvation as we look forward to the homecoming around Your eternal throne.

Interpret Your will for each of us today, so that we may know the what, the where, and the how to love you and to show that love to each we meet.

Remember us to the Father and to the Son, O Spirit. Intercede for us that we may be able to stand in Your presence.

Instill in us the willingness to hear You speaking to us as You are with us and in us each day, O God.

Take us, O Lord, and prepare us to be Your spirit in this world as we live and breathe and have our being.

We pray in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.  Amen!

(an acrostic prayer)

Coming now to You, dear Father, we choose to worship You by the power of Your Spirit and in Your truth today!

Hear our prayer, O God! Receive us, Your children, as we consciously wait before You.  We bring our “want to” to You in something of a sacrifice of praise to You today.

Over all that we say and do in this hour, Father, we lay our love for You and ask that you remake us to show Your love for us to all we come in contact with today.

Intercept our selfish choices and replace them with Your will for us, even today, O Father.

Control our going out and our coming in, Father, that we may go where You go and do what You do.  We long to be more like you, Father.

Eternal are Your choices, dear God! May we learn to think like you think, to decide as You decide and to love like You love!

Send us from this place, O Lord, that You word may live in and through us. May the world see our choices and want to know why we chose to do what we do. Help us to tell them about Your Son, Jesus, our savior.

In the name of the only choice for eternal life, Jesus Christ, our Savior, we pray.  Amen!

(an acrostic prayer)

Glory to God in the highest and to the Father of all who call on His name and to the Son and the Spirit! We come to worship You today.

Longing to be more like You, Father, we come to gather in Your name and seek Your Spirit’s leading as we come.

Order our lives by the power of Your Holy Spirit, O God! May our courses lead to You, Father, as we walk in the paths You choose for us.

Remake us in Your intended image, Father. May we bring glory to You as we live as Your children in this world.

You alone as worthy to receive whatever honor we can give, O Lord. Accept us today as we humbly bow in worship and praise to YOU.

Take us from this place into the places that need You, Father. May we be willing instruments of Your kingdom.

Open our eyes, Lord, that we may see Your kingdom work needing to be done and open our hearts that we may be willing to do it!

Grace and mercy flow from You to us, dear God. May we be an unobstructed channel that allows you to flow through us to others.

Overshadow this world’s influence on us, Lord, with the light of Your word as we strive to live in Your Spirit!

Develop the picture of our lives that we may become the people that You desire in order that we might bring glory to You, O God!

In the name of the only one worthy of glory and honor and praise, even Jesus Christ our Lord, we pray.  Amen!
