Clyde David Joiner…

(an acrostic prayer in memory of my friend)

Coming to You, dear Father, we seek Your presence and ask for Your comfort to abide with us today.

Lead us along green paths to still waters flowing in this valley of the shadow of death today, O God!

Yearning for your mercy and grace, we come to this place today to hear from You and feel Your peace.

Descend upon us today through Your Word, Your Presence, Your Spirit and Your people as we worship today.

Enliven our spirits through the power of Your Holy Spirit, Father. We long to be more like You for having been here with these Your children.

Dearest Father, we bring this family to You in this time of grief as they experience the loss of husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Attune their hearts to You as You visit us and them with Your love and grace.

Validate their love for You and their love for David as the days ahead come and go in the returning routine of days.

Infect them with the joy of memory of the days lived and cherished as family here on this earth.

Defend Your children here as the days pass and the memories linger of pain and suffering. Remind them of Your love and mercy when sometime seems like a long time.

Join us here, Father, as we celebrate the life and memory of this dear friend.

Open the floodgates of Your house and sprinkle Your loving grace upon all who call upon You today.

Instill in us, this day, the joy of Your salvation as we worship You and remember our friend.

Negate the sadness with Your gladness and replace the grief with Your comfort.

Engrave on their hearts and ours the very name of our Savior and Lord as You have sealed us with Your love.

Rejoicing in You, Father, we thank You for meeting us here and for bringing us Your joy and peace today.

In the name of Jesus Christ we pray and believe! Amen

(an acrostic prayer)

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, we come to worship You today with all that we are. Accept us, O God.

Open our minds to comprehend a little more of You and Your will for us, Your children, dear Lord.

Design the instruction of Your commands today to penetrate the prideful hardness of our hearts, Father.

Tend us as Your flock, O Holy Spirit. Use your shepherd’s crook to keep us on the path that leads to still waters and green pastures.

Hear our prayer, O Spirit, to help us to see and remember the words of our savior and allow them to rule in our lives.

Enthuse us with Your truth, Your guidance, and with Your comfort, O Spirit, as You come alongside us.

Save us from our selfish selves, O God! May Your Spirit overcome the sin in our lives and remake us in Your sight.

Preserve us, O Spirit, for the coming day of salvation as we look forward to the homecoming around Your eternal throne.

Interpret Your will for each of us today, so that we may know the what, the where, and the how to love you and to show that love to each we meet.

Remember us to the Father and to the Son, O Spirit. Intercede for us that we may be able to stand in Your presence.

Instill in us the willingness to hear You speaking to us as You are with us and in us each day, O God.

Take us, O Lord, and prepare us to be Your spirit in this world as we live and breathe and have our being.

We pray in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ.  Amen!

(an acrostic prayer)

Coming now to You, dear Father, we choose to worship You by the power of Your Spirit and in Your truth today!

Hear our prayer, O God! Receive us, Your children, as we consciously wait before You.  We bring our “want to” to You in something of a sacrifice of praise to You today.

Over all that we say and do in this hour, Father, we lay our love for You and ask that you remake us to show Your love for us to all we come in contact with today.

Intercept our selfish choices and replace them with Your will for us, even today, O Father.

Control our going out and our coming in, Father, that we may go where You go and do what You do.  We long to be more like you, Father.

Eternal are Your choices, dear God! May we learn to think like you think, to decide as You decide and to love like You love!

Send us from this place, O Lord, that You word may live in and through us. May the world see our choices and want to know why we chose to do what we do. Help us to tell them about Your Son, Jesus, our savior.

In the name of the only choice for eternal life, Jesus Christ, our Savior, we pray.  Amen!

(an acrostic prayer)

Glory to God in the highest and to the Father of all who call on His name and to the Son and the Spirit! We come to worship You today.

Longing to be more like You, Father, we come to gather in Your name and seek Your Spirit’s leading as we come.

Order our lives by the power of Your Holy Spirit, O God! May our courses lead to You, Father, as we walk in the paths You choose for us.

Remake us in Your intended image, Father. May we bring glory to You as we live as Your children in this world.

You alone as worthy to receive whatever honor we can give, O Lord. Accept us today as we humbly bow in worship and praise to YOU.

Take us from this place into the places that need You, Father. May we be willing instruments of Your kingdom.

Open our eyes, Lord, that we may see Your kingdom work needing to be done and open our hearts that we may be willing to do it!

Grace and mercy flow from You to us, dear God. May we be an unobstructed channel that allows you to flow through us to others.

Overshadow this world’s influence on us, Lord, with the light of Your word as we strive to live in Your Spirit!

Develop the picture of our lives that we may become the people that You desire in order that we might bring glory to You, O God!

In the name of the only one worthy of glory and honor and praise, even Jesus Christ our Lord, we pray.  Amen!

Dark to Light

(an acrostic prayer)

Remembering past actions by others causes us to drop to our knees to worship You because of Your mercy and Your love, Father.

Eternal in the heavens, You are, O God, yet You see and feel our distress and You shower us with Your grace.

Move us to forgiveness for sins committed against us, Father, as You have forgiven sins we have committed against You.

Envelope us in Your mercy, Father. May we be and become more merciful, O God. May we be Your instruments of peace in this world.

Mountains of hate and evil seem to prevail in our land, dear Lord. Help us to disarm that hate and evil with Your love in Your grace.

Before we were created, You had a plan for us, Father. May we seek Your will and Your plan for us as we worship and as we allow Your Spirit to live in and through us each day.

Empty us of our selfish, hurtful, prideful attitudes and actions, Father. Fill us with Yourself, that the world would know You through us each day we live.

Remember us, even as the dying thief on the cross, we ask You to remember us as we live and breathe and have our being, dearest Father.

In the name of the one who neither slumber nor sleeps, but remembers His children. Amen.

(an acrostic prayer)

Lord God Almighty, we come to worship You with all that we have and all that we are today.

Invest in us Your Holy Spirit, Father. Come and cleanse us from our sin, O God!

Verify Your mercy given to us through Your Son, Jesus Christ, by the covering of His blood.

Instill in us the wonder and awe of Your love for us, dear Father.

Nearer to who You are, Father, we long to come to sit at Your feet and learn of You!

Grant us forgiveness, O Lord, for those things, thoughts, feelings, that regularly tempt us to sin against You.

Share Your grace through us to this world as we live and breathe in this life, O God.

Afflict us with the urgency to share Jesus Christ with this world in which we live.

Correct our misunderstandings and lead us into all righteousness for Your name’s sake, Father.

Remove the stain of sin from our light so that we may shine brightly for You, O God.

Instill in us Your love and mercy so we may be Your instruments of peace in our world today, dear Father.

Forgive us for not being more loving, more forgiving, more merciful to those we live with and to those You bring into our life path.

Involve us in Your Spirit’s work, Father. May we see where He is working and come alongside to help in Your kingdom’s work.

Continue to use Your children to bring Your kingdom in this place, Father.

Enter now into our worship, O God, and may we be a pleasing, sweet savor to Your nostrils today.

Save us, Lord! May we indeed be living sacrifices unto You and Your Kingdom, dear Father!

We pray in the only living sacrifice who saves us, even Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!

(an acrostic prayer)

Jehovah God, merciful Father, ever-present Spirit, we come in praise and joy to worship You; You who saves.

Eternal in the heavens, You are, yet ever-living in us; those that You have saved as Your children, O God. We praise You for saving us!

Show us the path You have for each of us to walk and to whom we should share Your call to salvation, Father.

Use us, Father, to make known Your love in those places that know no love, that don’t know how to seek Your love, and in those places we are today.

Send us from our comfortable to the uncomfortable, from our pride to Your humility, and from our self-sufficiency into Your love, Father

Surely You have borne our grief in Your saving love on the cross of Calvary, dear Jesus. We bow low in repentance and adoration to You.

Accept out thanksgiving and make us worthy to praise You, O God. We seek to be like you, O God.

Victorious is Your grace and mercy, dear Father, Victory over sin and death is Your love legacy to us. To You be the glory.

Enlighten us with the truth of Your word today, Father. May we live in the light of Your Spirit today.

Send us from this place of worship in the power of Your Holy Spirit, into the places that need Your light reflected from us into the darkness, O God.

We pray in the power of the only one who saves, even Jesus Christ. Amen!
